Story Songs of the 70s is a Maine-based seasonal concert series of 3 timeless singer/songwriters: Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapin, and Cat Stevens. With lush guitar playing, humorous banter, a coastal folk feel, and a balanced setlist featuring plenty of toe-tappers, Tom DiMenna and his collaborators bring these songs to life across New England and beyond.

"I can't say enough good things about Tom." — Aimsel Ponti, Portland Press Herald

New this season — Tom DiMenna and Story Songs of the 70s is now sponsored by John Pearse Strings, makers of the classic acoustic tone that defined the era.

Winter: a setlist of reflective wintry songs balanced with upbeat favorites that bring audiences together with cheer during the colder months (“Song for A Winter’s Night” by Gordon Lightfoot, “Into White” by Cat Stevens, “Mr. Tanner” by Harry Chapin…)

Spring: a hopeful setlist that celebrates renewal and the fresh energy of the season (“Morning Has Broken” by Cat Stevens, “Early Morning Rain” by Gordon Lightfoot, “Taxi” by Harry Chapin…)

Summer: a vibrant mix of maritime favorites and easy-going 70s charm that pair perfectly with warm nights and festival crowds (“Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” by Gordon Lightfoot, “Peace Train” by Cat Stevens, “30,000 Pounds of Bananas” by Harry Chapin…)

Fall: a nostalgic, soul-stirring setlist with generational touchstones and upbeat gems that capture the crisp air and contemplative spirit of autumn (“Cat’s in the Cradle” by Harry Chapin, “Father and Son” by Cat Stevens, ”Sundown” by Gordon Lightfoot…)
